How to change your name, e-mail, phone in Aadhaar online

According to the UIDAI helpline and officials at an Aadhaar enrolment centre, if you haven't used your Aadhaar for any transaction, such as linking it to your bank account or PAN, for three continuous years, it can become inactive. If this happens, you will have to update your Aadhaar.

If you're looking to update your Aadhaar, here is how you can do it.
As per the UIDAI website, there are three ways to update or correct your details:
1. Update your details online
2. Request update by post
3. Visit a nearby enrolment centre

UIDAI has simplified the process of getting the Aadhar card updated or corrected both online and offline. In this article we shall discuss as to what steps one should follow to update address, name, phone number, date of birth and email id on the Aadhar card via online and offline process.
Online procedure to update or correct address, name, phone number etc.
1)   Visit the Aadhaar’s Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).
2)    Click on the “Proceed” button after reading the instructions cautiously.
3)   Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number
4)   Enter the given text verification code in the box and click on Send OTP or Enter TOTP.
5)   An OTP will be sent to the phone number registered in UIDAI’s database.
6)   Enter this OTP to log in to your Aadhar account.
7)   Consecutively, you can use the TOTP feature to validate.
8)   Tick the Address option and click on the Submit button.
9)   Enter your residential address mentioned in the Proof of Address (PoA).
10)  Click on the “Submit Update Request” button.
11)  If the address needs to be modified, then click on the “Modify” option.
12)  Now tick the declaration and click on the “Proceed” button.
13)  Select the document type you want to submit as PoA for verification.
14)  Upload the scanned copy of the address proof and click on the “Submit” button.
15)  Read the confirmation dialogue and click on the “Yes” button.
16)  Select the BPO service provider that will verify your details and click on Submit.
17)  The BPO service provider inspects if the details mentioned in the form matches with the POA and forwards your request to UIDAI.
18)  Your update request is then accepted and an Acknowledgement Slip is provided to you.
19)  The Acknowledgement Slip contains the Update Request number (URN)
Once updated, the updated version can be downloaded and Aadhar card print out can be taken.
All the required updates or corrections cannot be made through online. So at that time, one needs to visit the enrollment center near them for the update of required changes in their aadhaar card.
Procedure to update Aadhar Card Details by Visiting an Enrollment Centre:
1)   Fill the Aadhar correction form provided at the enrollment center
2)   Ensure you enter the correct information and not the information that is mentioned in the Udyog Aadhar.
3)   Get self-attested copies of the proofs validating your update request.
4)   Submit the form along with the required documents.
5)   The applicant is charged a minimal amount for every such visit to the Enrollment Centre for update or correction.
You can get all the type of details updated including your biometric data, image etc. at the Enrollment Centre.

  3. I wanted to change my address as I shifted to Kerala recently and had no Address Proof to upload. So, I used "Address Validation Letter" method and used my brother's address for the letter. He received the secret code and I used that. However, I find my new address is that of my Brother's. I requested for information as to how to correct the same to the right address. I got no reply from UIDAI. Can someone help?
