RBI Retail Digital rupee launching tomorrow, December 1: Check full list of banks offering digital wallet transaction

  New Delhi: A month after Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had started a pilot in the digital rupee – wholesale segment on November 1, the central bank will launch the first pilot for retail digital rupee (e?-R) in four Indian cities –Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar — tomorrow (Thursday, December 1). RBI will later expand it to nine more cities in the initial phase. It would be issued in the same denominations that paper currency and coins are currently issued. WhatsApp data leak: 500 mn users phone numbers from 84 countries, including India, up for sale

  Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp users’ personal information, such as mobile phone numbers, has allegedly been breached and is up for sale on a well-known hacking community forum. According to a Cybernews report, some people posted an advertisement on the hacking community forum on November 16 and were selling a 2022 database of around 487 million WhatsApp users’ mobile numbers. The report, which has been confirmed by multiple sources, is likely to be true. This database of WhatsApp users contains data from 84 countries (including India) and suggests that almost one-fourth of all WhatsApp’s estimated two billion active monthly users are at possible risk. Reportedly, there are more than 6 million records of Indian WhatsApp users on sale. RBI turns down Paytm’s application for payment aggregator licence, asks to resubmit plea in 120 days

  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has turned down Paytm Payments Services Limited’s application to seek licence to operate as a payment aggregator within the country, the company said in a regulatory filing. The central bank has now asked PPSL to re-submit its payment aggregator (PA) services application within 120 calendar days, i.e. four months. It is to be noted that One97 Communications (OCL), which owns the Paytm brand, had proposed to transfer the payment aggregator services business undertaken by it to Paytm Payments Services (PPSL) in December 2020 to comply with payment aggregator (PA) guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The fintech company re-submitted the required documents in September 2021.   The world’s longest luxury river cruise covering a distance of around 4,000 km will start in January 2023, Union minister of ports, shipping, and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has said. Called Ganga Vilas Cruise, the voyage connects Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Dibrugarh in Assam, travelling through Kolkata and Dhaka.
