Booking for Tatkal tickets of AC classes open at 10:00 am and for non-AC classes at 11:00 am, one day in advance of actual date of journey.
Under the Tatkal scheme, passengers get no refund in case of cancellation of confirmed tickets except in some special circumstances. This is meant to prevent misuse of the Tatkal scheme. IRCTC rules say that only in special circumstances like if the train is delayed by more than three hours and or the train is to run on a diverted route a refund of fare and Tatkal charges on confirmed tickets booked under the Tatkal scheme is granted. IRCTC is the e-ticketing arm of Indian Railways.
Railways has taken more steps to avoid the misuse of the online Tatkal booking system:
1) In opening Tatkal from 10:00-12:00 hours, the government informed, only two Tatkal tickets can be booked for single user ID.

Good efforts for genuine person. In my opinion the age ts should have to restrain while opening time for general public. Any other time can provided for agents.
ReplyDeleteThe system is ideal as it seems but it is next to impossible to get confirmed tickets and max you can get TQWL tickets this is my personal experience .... Hope system will impart genuine customers some good experience.
ReplyDeleteThe Agents can create several IDs and Passwords. Now with several log in they can corner tickets before Genaral Public gets chase to book ticket. The Server cannot differentiate between Genaral public and agents with multiple ID. The best way is to restrict two tickets from every IP Address and that's how cornering General Public can be avoided to a large extent. The use multiple computers from same Internate connection having same IP Address.
ReplyDeletePlease see point number 3 This is already taken care of

ReplyDeleteAgents will always find out ways in their favour. My question is - for my family of four members, how shall I book for tatkal tickets ? My IP address will be same even if I create another ID. This new rule will create new problems for genuine passengers like us. Moreover, while making the online payment, the system takes such a long time that by the time payment is finally made, the status of tickets will be TQWL
ReplyDeletethis should have been earlier. because many times people who really want tickets, they don't get it.
ReplyDeletethis is definately a good step to prevent misuse tatkal facility.

The ristriction of one return ticket is not practical. Same family name should be allowed up to 4 no per IP per booking. If different family name than of registered user, new rule is ok.
ReplyDeleteOverall new rule is not friendly to actual individual customer.
Website improvement is required for irctc website. Its running on outdated cms. The website should be revamp and it should be all device responsible. Even computer system also need to be changed on booking counters across the India. People are spending money and they're not getting tickets, because some agents has advance software to book tickets in seconds. Indian Railway should hire some experienced web developers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with so many comments regarding web improvement. Also wait listed tickets should be refunded even after the train has departed the station. A few months back while I was travelling from Rudrapur (RUPC) to Delhi by train 15036, my AC CC ticket could not be confirmed. When I went to cancel the same about 20 minutes before trains arrival, the officer at the counter told me the cancellation was available only upto 30 minutes before the trains' arrival. While railway rules dictate that wait listed passengers shouldn't board the train, the cancellation is not permitted beyond a time.
