But, do you know that you also get an insurance of Rs 50 lakh on LPG cylinder. As soon as a customer books a LPG cylinder, his family gets accident insurance of Rs 50 lakh. The special thing is that for this the consumer does not have to pay a single penny premium.

Actually, the gas filled in LPG cylinder is quite flammable and despite all precautions, it can lead to accidents. Due to lack of proper maintenance information, many times incidents of cylinder explosion occur in homes. In such a situation, the customer has the right to compensate for the loss caused by the accident. The customer gets the right to claim Rs 50 lakh from petroleum companies for his family.

Who gets the benefit?

According to the government website MyLPG.in (http://mylpg.in), accident cover is provided by petroleum companies to the customer taking LPG connection and his family. This cover insurance of Rs 50 lakh is given as financial help to the family after accidents like gas leaking or blast. For this, there is a partnership between petroleum companies and insurance companies and the insurance company will pay the amount on claim.

  • In this, the entire family is insured, which is Rs 10 lakh per member.
  • The maximum amount for the entire family is Rs 50 lakh.
  • If only property is damaged then you can claim up to Rs 2 lakh.
  • In case of death, a payment of Rs 6 lakh is given as personal accident cover.
  • A maximum of Rs 30 lakh is available for treatment, which will be Rs 2 lakh per member.

How to make claim

  • After the accident, inform the nearest police station and your LPG distributor.
  • The office of the insurance company attached to the concerned area will conduct a ground investigation of the accident.
  • Once the accident is confirmed to have occurred due to the cylinder, the insurance company will be informed about it.
  • After the investigation report, a claim will be filed, for which the customer does not need to apply himself.
  • For claim, a copy of the complaint given to the police, treatment expenses and bills and in case of death, postmortem or death certificate should be preserved.
