New Fastag Rules: New rules related to Fastag will be implemented from August 1, know what changes will happen

Rules Change 1 August: Fastag should remain active. For this, one transaction is required within three months. If there is no transaction, it will become inactive, for which you will have to go to the portal to activate it.

Rules Change 1 August: A new rule is going to be implemented on Fastag related services from August 1. Now after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle registration number will have to be uploaded on the Fastag number within 90 days. If the number is not updated within the stipulated time, it will be put in the hotlist. After that, an additional 30 days will be given, but if the vehicle number is not updated even in that, the Fastag will be blacklisted. However, the relief is that Fastag service provider companies will have to do the KYC of all five and three year old Fastags by October 31.

Time till 31 October

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) had issued detailed guidelines regarding Fastag in June, in which the date of August 1 was fixed for Fastag service provider companies to start the KYC process. Now the companies will have time from August 1 to October 31 to fulfill all the conditions. According to the new conditions, the fee related to issuing new Fastag and re-issuing Fastag, security deposit and minimum recharge has also been determined by NPCI.

A separate guideline has also been issued by Fastag service provider companies regarding this. In such a situation, the problem is going to increase for all those people who are buying a new vehicle or whose Fastag is old. Along with this, people using Fastag will also have to be cautious now because the rules related to blacklisting Fastag will also be affected from August 1. However, before that the companies will have to fulfill all the conditions that have been set for them by NPCI.

These rules will be effective from August 1

– Companies will have to replace five-year old Fastag on priority basis

– Three-year old Fastag will have to be re-KYCed

– Vehicle registration number and chassis number should be linked to Fastag

– After purchasing a new vehicle, its number will have to be updated within 90 days

– While doing KYC, clear photos of the front and side of the vehicle will have to be uploaded

– Fastag will be mandatory to be linked to mobile number

– Services like app, WhatsApp and portal will have to be made available for KYC verification process

– Companies will have to fulfill KYC rules by 31 October 2024

Banks can charge these charges on Fastag service

  • Statement – Rs 25 per one
  • Closing Fastag – Rs 100
  • Tag Management – Rs 25/quarter
  • Negative Balance – Rs 25/quarter

If there is no transaction with Fastag for three months, it will be closed

On the other hand, some Fastag companies have also added the rule that Fastag should remain active. For this, one transaction is necessary within three months. If there is no transaction, it will become inactive, for which one will have to go to the portal to activate it. This rule is going to create problems for those who use their vehicle only for a limited distance, in which no toll is deducted.
