One Nation, One Ration Card: Uttar Pradesh can get the maximum loan under the government's new scheme.

Nine states implemented One Nation One Ration Card system including uttar pradesh kerala gujrat to avail additional borrowing

So far, nine states in the country have started the system of One Nation, one ration card. After the introduction of this system, the central government has approved taking additional funds of Rs 23,523 crore. The official release related to this was released by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. States that have successfully implemented Public Distribution System (PDS) reforms include Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh.

To take advantage of the additional debt window of the central government, the states have made necessary preparations, to see this, the Department of Food and Public Distribution is the nodal department. It comes under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

UTTAR PRADESH HAS THE MOST DEBT

Under the government's new scheme, Uttar Pradesh can get the maximum loan. Uttar Pradesh can now take an additional loan of 4851 crore. After Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka will get the maximum additional loan of 4509 crore and Gujarat will get 4352 crore rupees.

IMPROVEMENTS TO BE IMPLEMENTED BY 31 DECEMBER

In order to borrow additional from the central government, the states have to implement the necessary reforms by the end of this year i.e. December 31. In the official release of the Finance Ministry, it has been hoped that by December 31, more states will complete the reform. Among the reforms to be implemented for availing additional loans from the central government, in addition to One Nation One Card, Ease of Doing Business Reform, Able Local Body / Utility Reform and Power Sector Reform.

0.25 PERCENT OF DEBT SPENT ON ONE NATION ONE CARD

The central government took several important decisions to provide economic support to the states amid challenges faced by the Corona epidemic, one of which is that additional debt equal to 2 percent of the gross state domestic product (GSDP) to states in 2020-21 Can get it. With this initiative, the states will not have financial problems in fighting the Corona epidemic and the standard of public interest schemes will remain. However, the Center had told the states that some part of the additional loan, should be spent on the reforms being done by the state. Under this, the government scheme PDS was added to the reforms. States can take an additional loan equal to 2 percent of their GDP and 0.25 percent of it has to be spent on implementing 'One Nation One Card System'.

TARGET OF RATION ON A CARD ANYWHERE ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Under the One Nation One Card system, the government aims to enable the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and other welfare schemes to get ration at Fair Price Shops (FPS) anywhere across the country. Apart from this, the aim is to remove bogus, duplicate or ineligible ration cards from the system to prevent leakage. In order to prevent leakage, the reforms condition is that the ration card be linked to Aadhaar, biometric identification of the beneficiaries and all fair price shops in the state should be automation.
