How to download Form-16A, interest certificate for SBI



An interest certificate will tell you how much interest you have earned on your savings accounts and fixed deposits with a bank during the financial year 2019-20. A State Bank of India (SBI) customer can get the interest certificate either by visiting his/her bank branch or by downloading the same from the Net banking facility.

Apart from the interest certificate, if tax has been deducted on the interest paid/accrued on your fixed deposit investment for the financial year 2019-20, then will have to get Form-16A from your bank. Form -16A is a TDS (tax deducted at source) certificate that contains details of the total interest paid/accrued to you and tax deducted on it during a particular financial year.

How SBI customers can download Form-16A TDS certificate
Follow the steps below to download TDS certificate using SBI’s Net banking facility:
Step 1: Login to your account by visiting onlinesbi.com.

Step 2: Once logged in successfully, click on ‘TDS enquiry’ under the ‘Fixed Deposit’ tab.

Step 3: A new webpage will option with three options: (a) TDS financial year, (b) NRO TDS enquiry and (c) Download.

Step 4: Under the TDS financial year option, select either ‘Live accounts’ if the fixed deposit is still on-going, or ‘Closed account’ if the fixed deposit has matured during the financial year 2019-20.

Step 5: Once selected, your web screen will show you the details of your fixed deposits. Select the financial year 2019-20 from the drop-down menu. Click on Submit.

Step 6: Once submitted, your request for TDS enquiry will be generated along with the request reference number. You can download the TDS details in the ‘Download’ tab, mentioned above.

As per the SBI website, only your fixed deposit accounts will be displayed on this page. You can generate the TDS certificate for the previous and current financial years. TDS details for all the accounts linked to this account will be available under the Download tab within 30 minutes. All the reports generated shall remain available for download at any time.

Step 7: Once your request is processed, you can click on ‘Request ID’ to download or view TDS certificate under the ‘Download’ tab.

How SBI customers can download interest certificate for savings account and FDs

Step 1: Once logged in to your account, click on ‘My Certificates’ under ‘e-Services’ tab.

Step 2: Select ‘Interest Certificate on Deposit A/Cs’. The web screen will show you the interest paid to your savings and fixed deposit bank accounts in a particular financial year.

Step 3: Click on ‘View/Download in PDF’ to download the certificates.

  8. Instead of all this unnecessary information, the SBI can send automatically the interest certificate directly to the customer as a good service.

    1. Very good suggestion. Why wait for acct holder to undergo all these, just send the16A as email or post it in Netbanking

      It must be the responsibility of the SBI to send the 16 A form to customers by default and well in time so that ITR can be filed in due time.
