DDA Housing Scheme: Good News! ‘You Can Buy House Even If…’ – Delhi Development Authority Gives Permission
DDA Housing Scheme 2023: In order to provide an opportunity for all homebuyers to participate in its new housing scheme, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Tuesday approved an amendment to its housing regulations.
As per the latest regulations, those people who own a flat or plot anywhere in Delhi are now eligible to get an allotment of flats under various DDA schemes announced by it periodically. The authority has amended Regulation 7 (Eligibility of Allotment) of DDA (Management and Disposal of Housing Estate) Regulations, 1968, to facilitate the same.
The decision was taken in a meeting held on Tuesday, chaired by Delhi L-G VK Saxena. The file has now been sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for its approval.
The authority, in the meeting, also approved the changing of land use for the expansion of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, the establishment of CPM office on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, and allotment of 1.6 hectares in Sector-17 Dwarka for the construction of six state bhavans.
As per DDA’s housing regulations, only a person having a plot of less than 67 square metres in the city was allowed to apply for the allotment of a newly constructed flat offered under its schemes, said officials as quoted by TOI.

“The previous regulations also allowed the purchase of flats in developing areas where more than 25 per cent of the flats remained unsold for a long time. However, to provide opportunity to all homebuyers to participate in DDA’s new housing schemes, the authority on Tuesday approved the amendment,” said an official as quoted by TOI.
“It was seen that the restrictions imposed earlier under the regulation had affected the sale of flats. This was needed to sell all kinds of flats in DDA’s inventory that is getting accumulated year after year,” the official added.
The DDA said that the move would lead to flats getting sold quickly, resulting in the recovery of capital, no maintenance expenses, and depreciation of inventory. “The approved proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final nod and notification,” said the official.

DDA also approved the change of land use for three plots allotted to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare or RML Hospital to further boost healthcare infrastructure. “The approval came after DDA completed the process of issuing a public notice inviting objections or suggestions from the public. The approved proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs,” said the official.
The DDA also gave permission for allotment of land for the construction of bhavans and guesthouses of six states. “This will enable state governments to provide proper accommodation to guest officers and dignitaries, who are coming to Delhi for official purposes,” added the official, as quoted by TOI.
