WHAT IS JIO AIRFIBER
Jio AirFiber is a new wireless internet service from Jio that uses 5G technology to provide high-speed internet connectivity. It offers speeds comparable to those of traditional fiber-optic connections, and users can also access speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
Jio notes that JioAirfiber is not only compact but also easy to set up. “You just have to just plug it in, turn it on, and that’s it. You now have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot in your home, connected to ultra-high-speed internet using True 5G. With JioAirFiber, it will be really easy to quickly connect your home or office to Gigabit-speed Internet,” notes Jio.
JIO AIRFIBER VS JIOFIBER BROADBAND
- Technology: Jio Fiber uses wired fiber optic cables for its coverage, while Jio AirFiber takes a wireless approach using point-to-point radio links. This means that Jio AirFiber connects homes and offices directly to Jio through wireless signals, freeing it from the constraints of fiber cables. Instead, it relies on line-of-sight communication with Jio towers.
- Speed: Jio AirFiber is claimed to offer an internet speed of up to 1.5 Gbps, surpassing the 1 Gbps speed of Jio Fiber. However, it’s important to note that the actual speed of Jio AirFiber may vary depending on the proximity to the nearest tower.
- Coverage: Jio Fiber, although offering broader coverage, is not available nationwide. In contrast, According to Jio, JioAirFiber’s wireless technology will allow it to provide extensive coverage without being limited by physical infrastructure.
- Installation: Jio AirFiber is designed to be plug-and-play, making it more user-friendly and accessible for customers. On the other hand, Jio Fiber typically requires professional installation.
- Cost: The Jio AirFiber service is expected to be priced competitively, potentially costing around Rs 6,000. In cost, JioAirFiber might be a bit expensive than the broadband connection as it includes a portable device unit.
Jio AirFiber offers more than just high-speed internet. It also includes parental control tools, support for Wi-Fi 6, integration with the Jio set-top box, and greater control over the network.
