As soon as you get a gas connection, you get an accidental insurance of Rs 40 lakh with certain conditions. For this, the petroleum company already has a contract with the insurance company. Whereas if life is lost in the accident, then a claim of up to Rs 50 lakh can be made. However, there is a condition attached to it that the insurance amount is also given to the person in whose name the cylinder is. Besides, some other conditions are also included, only on fulfilling which the insurance amount can be claimed.

These are the conditions

  • There are some important conditions for taking this insurance, which are very important to be followed. The first condition is that the benefit of claim is available only to those people whose cylinder pipe, stove and regulator are ISI marked. For claims, you should keep getting regular checkups of the cylinder and stove done.
  • Apart from this, the customer has to inform about the accident to his distributor and police station within 30 days of the accident.
  • During the claim, documents like copy of FIR of the accident, medical receipt, hospital bill, post mortem report and death certificate are required. It is important to have all these documents with you.
  • You cannot make anyone a nominee in this policy. Only the person in whose name the cylinder is named gets the insurance amount.
  • If you fulfill all these conditions of insurance, then you can make an insurance claim in case of an accident. During the insurance claim, your distributor gives information about the accident to the oil company and the insurance company. After this you get the insurance amount.

Keep this in mind

While buying a cylinder, check its expiry date once because insurance is linked to the expiry date of the cylinder. The expiry date of the cylinder is written in the form of a code on three wide strips on the top of the cylinder. This code is written as A-24, B-25, C-26 or D-27. In this code, ABCD means month and letters written in the form of numbers tell about the year. A means January, February and March, B means April, May and June, C means July, August, September and D means October, November and December. In this way, A-24 means that your cylinder will expire between January and March in the year 2024.
