Jiomart's grocery will be ordered from WhatsApp, know what is special in it
New Delhi, Business Desk. Now grocery items can be ordered from Jiomart through WhatsApp as well. Indians can now use WhatsApp to order groceries from Mukesh Ambani's JioMart with a new "tap and chat" option. Under this, the purpose of Reliance Industries is Amazon.com and Walmart Inc. To challenge the dominance of Flipkart.com, which is owned by Flipkart.
According to a JioMart user who received the WhatsApp Shopping invite with 90-second tutorial and catalogue, the delivery is free and there is no minimum order value. Fruits, vegetables, cereals, toothpaste and cooking staples such as cottage cheese and chickpea flour are available. Customers can fill their shopping cart within the app and pay either through JioMart or in cash at the time of receiving the order.
According to Bloomberg news, Meta Platforms Inc., formerly known as Facebook Inc., has invested around $6 billion in Reliance's Jio Platforms unit. The service uses the popularity of Jio, India's largest mobile operator, to reach users and relies on its Reliance Retail for delivery. WhatsApp has about 530 million users in the country - Meta's largest overseas base - and Jio has over 425 million subscribers.
According to the Boston Consulting Group, food and groceries are projected to account for more than half of the nation's retail spending, which is projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2025. Ambani's group has elevated its position to capture a larger share of that market with the introduction of the no-frills $87 smartphone, which comes with JioMart and WhatsApp apps. It has been created in partnership with Google of Alphabet Inc.
Google, like its US partners and investors, invested $4.5 billion in the company last year. Jio has prioritized connecting and enrolling more users to use its services. Meta's signature messaging service is rebuilding its brand in India with the help of Reliance.
