Today Weather Update: The weather in North India has taken another turn. Three western disturbances will wreak havoc with thunderstorms, rain, snowfall, and dense fog for the next seven days. The International Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts from Punjab to Bihar. The cold will intensify in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and the hilly states. Let’s explore the weather across the country in this news.

Today Weather Update: The country’s weather is constantly changing. On one hand, snowfall in the mountains has increased people’s anxiety. Meanwhile, the cold in the plains has once again increased difficulties. Meanwhile, a new warning from the Meteorological Department (IMD) is raising fears. The coming seven days will not be easy. Three Western Disturbances are poised to wreak havoc on North India. According to the IMD, thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms will be troublesome during this period. Cold winds will also chill the bones. The weather is set to deteriorate drastically from Punjab to Bihar.

The Meteorological Department is clearly stating that this is just the beginning. One Western Disturbance is already active. The second will arrive on the night of February 5th. The third will show its effect around February 8th. This means that the weather will not be at peace for the next seven days. Fog, rain, snowfall, and strong winds will combine to severely impact life.

State-wise weather forecast: How will the situation worsen where?

  • Almost all of North India, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, is reeling under the changing weather. Some areas have issued yellow alerts, while others have issued orange alerts. Snowfall is expected in the mountains, and rain and hailstorms in the plains.
  • The rain in the past 36 hours has already intensified the cold in Delhi-NCR. Dense fog will prevail in the morning and night on February 4th. Visibility may drop to less than 50 meters. While there will be some sunshine during the day, cold winds will bring no relief. Train and flight services are likely to be disrupted.
  • The situation in Uttar Pradesh is even more severe. Several districts from western Uttar Pradesh to Purvanchal may experience thunderstorms and hailstorms. Strong winds will blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Temperatures may drop by 2 to 4 degrees in the next 24 hours. Fog will further increase people’s problems.

Rain in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

According to the Meteorological Department, eastern Rajasthan and western Madhya Pradesh are expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning in several areas. Dense fog may reduce visibility in several districts of Rajasthan. Meanwhile, cloudy skies and rain are expected to continue in Bhopal, Gwalior, Ujjain, Rewa, Satna, Sagar, and Chhatarpur, along with surrounding areas in Madhya Pradesh. This is expected to cause a drop in temperatures.

Weather patterns to change in South India as well

The effects of the active western disturbance in North India are now being felt in South India as well. According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rain is expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep for the next few days due to a system formed over the Arabian Sea. Cloudy skies are expected in many areas, leading to a slight drop in temperatures. Strong winds and high waves are expected in coastal areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. At the same time, common people have also been instructed to keep an eye on weather updates and take precautions.
