Display speed limits properly
ReplyDeleteIn India such monitoring devices are very necessary. But the way they are implemented is suspicious. For ex. If sign boards of speed limits are displayed on the highways, they may hammer the messege of keeping the speed in control. But alas, there are no such sign boards displayed. Many times the cameras are in mobile vans and they are at such places where they can take snaps very easily. This arises doubt in the mind whether these camers, speed guns are for betterment in traffic or just to harass the vehicle owners and a trick to increase Govt. Income by penalizing.
ReplyDeleteI feel that the speed limit must be notified intermittently on the highways. Moreover every detail of breaking the rules, offences must be provided to the vehicle owners.
Recently a sms came that my husband had violated traffic rules on 2nd of April and a case has been started at Balasore district court. Strangely enough no challan was sent nor any sms was sent regarding traffic violation. We had to go to orissa govt traffic site to voew the challan and found case has been made for speeding and driving without licence. The case is false because nobody stopped the car or asked for licence and the picture is so unclear that it doesn't show any speeding. When I contacted my cousin who had gone with us in his car he also searched the orissa govt traffic site and found same cases have been made in the challan against him. First there is no speed limit displayed in the highways. Secondly it is absurd that anybody would travel without license specially when they are going outside their state. Thirdly we found a similar case has been made against our friend when he had gone to Puri in April 3rd week. And all the cases are more or less in the same area/ district as cases have been registered in the Balasore district court. And none were issued any challan physically or digitally. I think this is a racket going on for earning revenue.
