Today, the cheapest petrol in the country is being sold in Port Blair at Rs 82.42 and diesel at Rs 78.01 per liter. In Lucknow, petrol is Rs 94.65 and diesel is Rs 87.76 per liter. In Meerut, petrol is Rs 94.43 and diesel is Rs 87.49 per liter. In Jaipur, petrol is at Rs 104.88.

Petrol consumption increased

Petrol consumption in the country increased by 7 percent in the first fortnight of April, while diesel sales declined by 9.5 percent. This information has come to light from the data of public sector petroleum marketing companies. Before the beginning of the summer season, conflicting figures of petrol and diesel sales have emerged. The three public sector petroleum companies control 90 percent of the fuel market. Data shows that during April 1 to 15, petrol sales increased to 12.2 lakh tonnes, while in the same period last year it was 11.4 lakh tonnes. At the same time, diesel demand decreased by 9.5 percent to 31.4 lakh tonnes during this period.

Use of private vehicles increased

Due to the partial reduction in petrol prices, the use of private vehicles increased and sales increased. But the demand for air conditioning in cars is expected to increase in the future as the heat increases with the harvesting season.
