Indian Railways has made a major change to the rules for Tatkal ticket booking, which will come into effect today, December 1st. Now, an OTP will be generated when booking tickets. Only after this, will the booking process be completed. Western Railway has implemented this rule on selected trains. Later, it will be implemented in all railway zones.
According to the Railways, this system will be implemented on the Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express from December 1st. The main objective of implementing this system is to benefit passengers who truly want to travel urgently but are unable to obtain tickets.
Keeping this problem in mind, the Railway Board has approved the OTP-based Tatkal ticketing system. Tickets will be issued only after entering the OTP received on the mobile number registered at the time of booking. This will make the use of fake or incorrect mobile numbers impossible, and only passengers with active and verified mobile numbers will be able to book tickets.
The caller’s real name will be visible.
The caller’s real name (CNAP) feature, which appears on mobile or landline phone screens, is expected to be rolled out from December 15th. The Department of Telecommunications has directed telecom companies to implement this feature nationwide. This will eliminate the need for third-party apps. The new system will display the caller’s name as entered in their consumer application form.
