IMD Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in 19+ states, tornadoes expected at 50-60 kmph speed
IMD Heavy Rain Alert: There is a strong possibility of thunderstorms and hailstorms in Bihar on May 26th. Additionally, there is an alert for heavy rain in parts of Bihar on May 26th, 27th, and 29th. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to experience heavy rainfall on May 26th and 27th. Rain and thunderstorms will continue in Jharkhand for the next seven days.
IMD Heavy Rain Alert: The weather across the country is currently experiencing significant turmoil. While many areas of North and Central India are reeling under intense heat and heatwaves, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert for more than 19 states in its latest afternoon bulletin. According to the weather department, large parts of the country will experience thunderstorms, hailstorms, and torrential rains in the coming days.
According to the IMD, tornadoes with winds of 50 to 60 kmph will hit various parts of the country. In some states, the speed may even increase to 70 to 80 kmph. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is also steadily increasing. The monsoon has already advanced into many parts of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Conditions are favorable for its further advance over the next two to three days. Due to this strong weather system, the country’s weather will remain completely altered until June 1st.
Currently, a cyclonic circulation is present over South Bihar and its surrounding areas. Additionally, a north-south trough is active from South Bihar to north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Weather systems are also present over Assam and Punjab. Furthermore, a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect northwest India from May 28th. Due to these factors, the weather conditions in various regions of the country are expected to be as follows until June 1st.
Northeast India: Torrential and Very Heavy Rain
A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for the states of Northeast India until June 1st. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya today, May 26th. Further heavy rainfall will continue in isolated areas on May 27-28, May 31st, and June 1st. A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh on May 26th, tomorrow, May 27th, and again on June 1st. Heavy rainfall is expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 26-27th, May 31st, and June 1st.
South India and Islands: Heavy Rain Alert with Thunderstorms
A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep on May 26th. Widespread rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph will occur from May 26th to 28th. Heavy rain will occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and South Interior Karnataka on May 26. North Interior Karnataka is on alert for heavy rain and hailstorms on May 27. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands will experience heavy rainfall from May 26 to 31.
Eastern India: Hailstorm and Heavy Rain Alert
There is a strong possibility of hailstorms and thunderstorms in Bihar on May 26th. Additionally, there is an alert for heavy rain in parts of Bihar on May 26th, 27th, and 29th. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to experience heavy rain on May 26th and 27th. Thunderstorms and rain will continue in Jharkhand for the next seven days.
Dangerous tornadoes expected to hit at speeds of 70 to 80 kmph
