Delhi Rain Alert: Large parts of the country have received significant relief from the intense heat and heatwave. Following light drizzle and cool winds in recent days, temperatures have dropped significantly.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the main reason for this changing weather is a Western Disturbance. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of strong thunderstorms, hailstorms, and heavy rain in several states over the next few days.

Two-day ‘Yellow Alert’ in Delhi-NCR

The weather in the capital Delhi and its surrounding areas remains pleasant. Yesterday, Delhi’s maximum temperature was well below normal, with the minimum temperature settling at 25 degrees Celsius. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi for today and tomorrow. For the next two days, the sky will remain cloudy, with lightning, and there is a high possibility of rain accompanied by dust storms at speeds of 60 to 70 km/h.

Strong winds will blow in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

There is a possibility of hailstorm along with rain in many areas. At the same time, in many districts of Bihar and Jharkhand, there can be a devastating storm with a speed of 80 to 100 km/hour. Along with this, there is an alert of heavy rain and hailstorm along with thunder and lightning.

At the same time, in many districts of Rajasthan including Kota, Jhalawar, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk, there is a possibility of storm with a speed of 60 to 80 km/hour along with heavy rain. In many parts of Madhya Pradesh including Indore, Bhopal and Panna, strong winds will blow at a speed of 50 km per hour and showers with thunder and lightning are expected.

Hill States: Alert in Himachal and Uttarakhand

Heavy rain and hailstorm warnings have been issued for several districts in Uttarakhand, including Chamoli and Dehradun, today. A thunderstorm alert has been issued for 10 districts in the state, including Shimla, Kullu, and Manali. These rains will further lower temperatures in the hilly areas.

Northeast and South India: Monsoon Arrives

According to the Meteorological Department, the Southwest Monsoon is advancing rapidly. Conditions are favorable for it to reach many parts of the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep Islands, and the Bay of Bengal in the next 2-3 days.

A period of heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between May 31 and June 4. Continuous rainfall is also expected in Kerala, Lakshadweep Islands, and Tamil Nadu.
