After all, when should I take Covishield's Booster Dose? The company replied
Regarding the booster dose of Kovid Vaccine, SII President Cyrus Poonawalla has advised to apply the booster dose (third dose) 6 months after the completion of 2 doses of Kovid Vaccine.
New Delhi: Amidst the fear of increasing variants of Corona virus, where many countries have started approving the third booster dose of Kovid vaccine, in India so far no announcement has been made in this matter. Not there. However, Cyrus Poonawalla, President of Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune has said that the third dose of Kovid-19 vaccine should be taken after 6 months. It has also been said that the ideal interval between 2 doses of this vaccine should be 2 months.
ANTIBODIES ARE LOW
In a report published in The Lancet, it has been said that after some time the antibodies of Kovidshield against Kovid decrease. When Poonawalla was asked about this, he said, 'It is true, but the memory cells persist.'
Let us tell you that Covishield is a version of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine produced by SII in collaboration with Oxford University. Also, Covishield is one of the first two vaccines that the Indian government allowed for emergency use earlier this year. After this, Kovashield along with Covaccin was used extensively in the nationwide vaccination run to prevent Kovid.
POONAWALLA TOOK THE THIRD DOSE
Cyrus Poonawalla, President of SII, further said, 'After 6 months the antibodies decrease, so I have taken the third dose. We have also given the third dose to about 8 thousand of our employees. Those who have completed their 2 doses, I request them to take a booster dose (3rd dose) after 6 months.
On the other hand, regarding the ideal difference between 2 doses of vaccine, he said, 'Since there was a shortage of vaccine, so the Modi government increased its gap to 3 months, but the difference of 2 months between 2 doses is the ideal interval.'
LOCKDOWN WAS NOT AN EFFECTIVE METHOD
On the other hand, regarding the implementation of the lockdown to deal with the deadly corona virus, Poonawalla said that it was not an effective way to deal with it. He said, 'If there is no lockdown, then the infection will spread in the beginning but later herd immunity will prevail. I am giving priority to herd immunity because it has the rate of deaths due to corona virus. Lockdown is a good option in a situation when the death rate is high.
He said that in most cases people have died due to Kovid because they ignored the infection or they reached the doctor late.
