Restrictions on domestic flights will be completely removed from October 18, government orders
New Delhi, ANI. In view of the reduction in corona cases in the country, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered the removal of restrictions on the capacity of passengers in domestic commercial flights from October 18. With this, flights can be operated at full capacity. This means that they can now book 100% of all available seats. However, during this time the Kovid protocol will have to be followed. The new order has come into effect from Monday 18 October.
Strictly follow the guideline
However, airlines and airport operators have been asked by the ministry to ensure that the guidelines are strictly followed to prevent the spread of corona and COVID appropriate behavior is strictly enforced. The ministry said the capacity restrictions have been lifted after reviewing the demand for air travel.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation had limited the capacity of the domestic airline with effect from May 2020. Currently, the capacity limit for domestic flights is 85 per cent. Indian airlines operated 2,340 domestic flights on October 9, or 71.5 per cent of their combined pre-Covid capacity. In September, the government increased the capacity restriction from 72.5 per cent to 85 per cent. Earlier in July, the Ministry of Civil Aviation had increased the capacity of domestic flights from 50 per cent to 65 per cent. Due to the spread of Corona, the central government resumed domestic flight operations in May after a break of two months.
It is to be known that due to the spread of Kovid epidemic, scheduled international flights were banned from 23 March 2020, but special international flights are being operated under Vande Bharat Mission from May 2020. Apart from this, flights are being operated from July, 2020 under the 'Air Bubble' arrangement with some countries.
