IMD Rainfall Alert: Pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rain alert issued for 7 days in these states

 

Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat may receive heavy rainfall at isolated places from August 13 to 18, including very heavy rains in the Ghat areas. Light to moderate rains are likely at many places over the entire country for the next 5-7 days.

IMD Rainfall Alert: With the increase in monsoon activity, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in various areas. The western monsoon trough is north of its normal position. There is a cyclonic circulation of upper air in the central part of the Bay of Bengal. Due to its effect, a low pressure area is likely to form in the West Bay of Bengal on August 13, which may strengthen further in the next 48 hours. Cyclonic circulations are present in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and other places, which are promoting rain. Western disturbances are also active around North Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir.


Extremely heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand on August 13. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan till August 18. In North-East India, extremely heavy rains are expected over Assam on August 13. Heavy rains will continue over Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland etc. for the next few days. Telangana has a warning of extremely heavy rains on August 13 and 14. Heavy rains and strong winds are likely at isolated places over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Light to moderate rain at many places for 5-7 days

Extremely heavy rains are likely over West Bengal and Sikkim today. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Odisha on Tuesday. Heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat from August 13 to 18, including very heavy rains over Ghat areas. Light to moderate rains will occur at many places over the entire country for the next 5-7 days. There is a possibility of lightning along with thunder during this period. The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to remain alert and take precautions in flood-prone areas, as these weather systems can increase the risk of floods and landslides.
