JEE Main 2025: Old rule of JEE Main changed, students can check the new guidelines here!

JEE Main 2025 New Rules: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has changed the rules for JEE Main 2025, including an old important rule. The JEE Main registration process will start from October 28 and run till November 22. The website has also shifted to the old domain. The first session exam will be held from January 22 to January 31.

JEE Main 2025, jeemain.nta.nic.in: The National Examination Agency (NTA) has issued new guidelines regarding JEE Main 2025. Meanwhile, the score tie-breaking rules have been changed. That is, now if two students get equal marks, then the rules for how the better rank will be decided between them have been changed. From this year, age has been removed from the tie-breaking calculation. It is worth noting that NTA has released the guidelines for JEE Main 2025 on Monday night (October 28). Along with this, NTA also started the registration process for JEE Main on October 28, which will end on November 22. Know about the new tiebreaking rule here.

JEE Main Ranking Rules in case of tie for equal score:

Ties between candidates securing equal aggregate scores in the JEE Main paper were resolved by determining ranks in the following manner:

  1. Higher score in Mathematics
  2. Next, score in Physics
  3. Next, score in Chemistry
  4. Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in all subjects in the exam
  5. Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in Mathematics in the exam
  6. Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in Physics in the exam
  7. Next, candidate with lower ratio of number of correct answers to wrong answers in Chemistry in the exam
  8. Next, candidate with older age
  9. Next, application number in ascending order.

What is the new change?

Now the criteria till the seventh stage will remain the same, the criteria of ‘elder in age’ and ‘application number in ascending order’ have been removed. As per the revised guidelines, if there is a tie till the seventh criterion, then the candidates will be given the same rank.

Change in JEE official website domain:

Another change this year is also in the website domain. Last year, NTA had shifted from the old JEE website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – to a new JEE Main website – jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, the agency has once again shifted to the old JEE website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – this year.

Extra time to Divyang students:

Another change that has been implemented this time is the revised guidelines for candidates classified as Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) for the JEE Main 2025 exam. Divyang candidates will be given 20 minutes extra time per hour.
