Cold Waves Warning: Cold wave alert from Delhi to Himachal, know the weather in other states today

 

Today’s weather: Dense fog, cold days, and cold waves continue to linger in many parts of the country. The weather department predicts cold will persist in northern India, while the system in the Bay of Bengal is being closely monitored.

Today’s weather: The January cold has gripped much of North India. A thick layer of fog in the morning and cold winds during the day are adding to people’s hardships. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of dense fog, cold days, and a cold wave for the next few days. Furthermore, a depression in the Bay of Bengal may also impact the weather.

Fog in several states for the next seven days

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, dense fog will prevail in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the morning hours from January 8th to 10th. Fog will prevail in isolated pockets in Uttar Pradesh today, January 8th, and from January 9th to 14th. Fog will also persist in eastern and western parts of Rajasthan from January 8th to 12th. Fog will also be observed in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, northeastern states, and parts of West Bengal until January 12th.

Cold Days and Cold Waves in These States

North India and Eastern India (excluding Odisha) will experience severe cold for the next two to three days. A cold wave will prevail in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand on January 8-9. A cold wave warning has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan from January 8 to 12. Cold days will also prevail in Uttarakhand and Bihar until January 10. Frost is also expected in hilly areas.

Temperatures Will Change

Minimum temperatures in northwest and northeast India are currently showing no significant changes. Temperatures in central India may rise by 2–3 degrees over the next three days, while eastern India may see a slight increase after a few days. Temperatures in Maharashtra and Gujarat are also expected to rise gradually.

Ground Frost Warning

Ground frost conditions are likely to develop in Uttarakhand by January 9th and in Meghalaya on January 8th.

Depression in the Bay of Bengal

A depression is forming over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Indian Ocean. This could impact the weather in coastal areas.
