According to the passport service website, you need to submit any three of the following documents while applying for a tatkal passport:

How long does it take to get an instant passport?

According to the passport service website, once your application form is successfully submitted, its final status appears as ‘Granted’. After this, you can expect your passport to be dispatched on the third working day, excluding the date of submission of the application. Police verification report is not awaited for this.

Who does not get Tatkal passport?

  • People who are children of Indian parents but born outside India.
  • People who have been granted citizenship by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
  • If you want to change your name in passport under Tatkal scheme.
  • Residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Children who have been adopted by Indian or foreign parents.
  • Children whose parents are separated but not divorced.
