Visa Free Entry: In a major push to revive international travel and foster global business ties, China has expanded its 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy to include 55 countries. The policy, which took effect on Thursday, is expected to significantly benefit short-term travellers and boost inbound tourism and trade.

Indonesia Now Included

China’s recent inclusion of Indonesia in the visa-free transit scheme is expected to enhance China–Indonesia cooperation in trade, tourism, and investment. Officials say this will create a more convenient travel environment and foster stronger regional ties.

Visa-Free Transit Benefit

Visa-free transit allows eligible international travelers to enter a country for a short duration without needing a visa, as long as they are in transit to a third destination. In China’s case, this means:

  • No visa required for up to 240 hours (10 days)
  • Applicable when transiting to a third country or region
  • Must have a valid passport and confirmed onward ticket

This type of policy is particularly useful for travelers on multi-country itineraries or those looking to explore China briefly without going through the full visa application process.
