Heavy Rains Alert: There will be torrential rains in these states, Meteorological Department’s frightening prediction
The Meteorological Department has said that due to the collision of Monsoon Tuff and Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir. This is also likely to increase the water level in the rivers.
Heavy Rains Alert: Due to heavy rains in the hilly areas, rivers have created havoc in North India. About 9 thousand villages in Punjab have been submerged. Most of the rivers have crossed the danger mark. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has made a frightening prediction. IMD says that due to the collision of Monsoon Tough and Western Disturbance, rain activities will intensify in the coming time. Due to this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Along with this, incidents of floods in rivers, landslides and cloudbursts may also increase.
Rivers will cause havoc
The Meteorological Department said, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many areas of Uttarakhand from September 1. Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir may receive torrential rains on September 2. The next three to four days are very critical for the hilly areas. Western disturbances are more active in North India during winters. At the same time, there is a danger of a serious situation arising due to the collision of western disturbances with the monsoon system.
Meteorological Department Director Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that this was the reason behind the torrential rains in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in August. These could also be the reasons behind the disaster in Dharali in Uttarakhand, Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir and Mandi in Himachal.
Red alert in these districts including Dehradun
Dehradun’s Senior Meteorologist Rohit Thapliyal said, the next 48 hours are very sensitive for Uttarakhand. Heavy rain is expected due to the collision of both the systems. In such a situation, a red alert has been issued in Dehradun. Apart from this, red alert has also been issued in Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Champawat, Nainital, Bageshwar and Udham Singh Nagar.
At present, the monsoon trough is at its normal speed in the south. At the same time, the western disturbance remains over northern Pakistan and Punjab in the form of cyclonic circulation. Apart from this, due to circulation over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, more moisture from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the Himalayas. Due to this, there is heavy rainfall in the areas around the Himalayas. Mohapatra said that the North-West received the highest rainfall in the month of August after 2001. The rain is expected to continue in September as well.
