IMD Rainfall Alert: Rain will wreak havoc in these states for 7 days, Meteorological Department issued alert
Weather Update: The Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast for the next seven days. Heavy rain is expected in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, and Konkan. Storm warnings have also been issued in several areas.
Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a seven-day weather forecast for the entire country on Sunday. Despite the withdrawal of the monsoon, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected across western, eastern, and central India. Extremely heavy rainfall warnings have been issued, particularly in Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Saurashtra-Kutch, increasing the risk of floods and landslides.
Fear of heavy devastation in western India, red alert in 5 districts, including Mumbai
Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected at most locations in western India for the next seven days. Heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada on September 28, and in Gujarat from September 28 to October 1. Very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Konkan, Central Maharashtra, and the Gujarat region on September 28-29, and in Saurashtra-Kutch on September 28-30. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over North Konkan (including Mumbai), North Madhya Maharashtra, South Gujarat on September 28, and over Saurashtra-Kutch on September 29. In Maharashtra, a red alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad and Nashik (ghat areas).
Rainfall accompanied by gusty winds expected in East-Central India, alert in Bihar and Odisha
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers will continue at most/many locations across East and Central India. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 29-30, in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on October 2-4, in Gangetic West Bengal on October 2-3, in Bihar on October 1-4, in Jharkhand on October 2, in Odisha on October 1-3, in West Madhya Pradesh on September 28, 3-4, and in East Madhya Pradesh on October 3-4. Heavy rainfall is expected in Vidarbha on September 28 and 2-4, and in Chhattisgarh on September 29-October 4. Isolated very heavy rainfall is possible in Gangetic West Bengal on October 2, in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on October 3, and in Bihar on October 3-4.
Gale-force winds of 40-50 km/h are expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for the next five days, and winds of 30-40 km/h are expected over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar for the next seven days. Heavy rainfall of 2.5-4.5 inches is expected in Dhar, Khargone, Alirajpur, and Barwani in Madhya Pradesh.
Continuous rainfall in the Northeast, very heavy rain in Nagaland and Manipur
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers will continue at many/few places in Northeast India. Isolated heavy rainfall is possible in Assam and Meghalaya on September 30-October 4, in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram-Tripura on September 29-October 3, and in Arunachal Pradesh on October 1-4. Very heavy rainfall is possible in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram-Tripura on October 2, and in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya on October 3-4.
Severe winds in the southern peninsular region, heavy rain in Tamil Nadu and Kerala
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers will occur at many/few places in southern peninsular India. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala-Mahe on September 28, coastal and northern interior Karnataka on September 28 and October 4, coastal Andhra Pradesh-Yanam on October 2-3, and Telangana on September 28 and October 3-4. Strong surface winds with gusts of 40-50 km/h are expected in coastal Andhra Pradesh-Yanam and Rayalaseema on September 28-29 and in Telangana on September 28, while winds with gusts of 30-40 km/h are expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala-Mahe, and Lakshadweep on September 28.
Light Rain in Northwest India, Thunderstorms Possible in Rajasthan
In Northwest India, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in southeastern Rajasthan on September 28. Thunderstorms with lightning are likely in western Rajasthan on September 29-30 and in eastern Rajasthan for the next five days.
