IMD Heavy Rain Alert: According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall and strong winds were recorded in many parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Extremely heavy rainfall was recorded in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm) was also recorded over eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura. Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) observed over Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

India Weather Update: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest weather bulletin for different parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue at isolated places in Northeast India, West Bengal and Bihar during the next 3-4 days. Along with this, a warning has also been given regarding extremely heavy rain at some places in Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 13. A slight reduction in rainfall activities may be seen over the plains of northwest India, west-central and south Peninsular India during the next 6-7 days.

How much rain has occurred and the situation of storm?

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall and strong winds were recorded in many parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Extremely heavy rainfall was recorded in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm) was also recorded over eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura. Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) was observed over Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Strong/gusty winds reaching 60-80 kmph at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Punjab. Apart from this, winds at the speed of 40-60 km per hour and lightning were recorded in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Western Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Maharashtra, Gujarat State, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Interior Karnataka.

Detailed regional weather forecast

Talking about weather systems, the western end of the monsoon trough is close to its normal position at sea level while its eastern end remains north of the normal position. Apart from this, cyclonic circulation is active over Pakistan and Bangladesh and a trough is also passing from northwest Bihar to Manipur. Due to the influence of these systems, the weather of the country will be like this in the coming days-

North-West India (Delhi, UP, Punjab and Haryana)

There is a possibility of light to scattered rain at isolated places over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Western Uttar Pradesh during July 13 to 19. Heavy rain may occur at isolated places in western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab on July 18 and 19. Scattered rain is expected over East Uttar Pradesh from July 13-17 and widespread heavy rain from July 18-19. During this period, there is an alert of heavy rain in Eastern UP between 17th and 19th July. There is a warning of widespread rain in Uttarakhand from July 13-19 and heavy rain during July 15-19. There may be heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh on 18-19 July.

There is a possibility of strong winds at the speed of 40-50 km per hour in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh during July 13-19 and heavy rain on July 18-19. East Rajasthan may see rain during July 16-19.

Eastern India (Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal)

There is a possibility of widespread rain in Bihar from 13-15 July. After this, sporadic rain will continue on July 16-19. There is an alert of very heavy rain at different places in Bihar on 13-14 July while heavy rain is expected during 15-19 July. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rain over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 13 and heavy rain on July 14, 15, 18 and 19. Gangetic West Bengal may see heavy rain during July 13-17.

Jharkhand is expected to witness isolated heavy rain on July 13, 18 and 19 and widespread rainfall from July 14-17 with heavy rain on July 13-14. Odisha may receive very heavy rain on 14-15 July and heavy rain on 13 and 16 July.

Northeast India (Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura)

Meghalaya may receive extremely heavy rainfall at some places on July 13. Heavy rain is likely over Assam and Meghalaya during July 13-15 and July 17-19 and very heavy rain on July 16. Continuous heavy rains are expected in Arunachal Pradesh from 13-19 July. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive very heavy rainfall on 13 and 17 July while a warning of heavy rainfall has been issued on 14-16 and 18-19 July.

Central and Western India (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra)

Strong winds with a speed of 40-50 km per hour may occur in Western Madhya Pradesh on July 16-17. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chhattisgarh on July 14-15. Widespread to very widespread rainfall is expected over Konkan and Goa during July 17-19 followed by scattered rainfall from July 13-16. Scattered rain will continue in Gujarat, Central Maharashtra and Saurashtra and Kutch from 13-19 July.

South Peninsular India (Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu)

There is a possibility of widespread rain in coastal Karnataka on 17-19 July and in Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep on 18-19 July. Strong surface winds are very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Coastal Karnataka, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka during July 13-17.

Heatwave and scorching heat warning

Amidst the rains, heat waves will also be seen in some parts of the country. There is a strong possibility of heat wave in isolated areas in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during 13 to 15 July. The weather will remain extremely hot and humid during 13-14 July in Odisha and 13-15 July in Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
