IMD issues heavy rain alert for these 25+ states, know the weather conditions
India Weather Today 1 July: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), while issuing the latest update for July 1, has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rains and strong thunderstorms in more than 25 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Today’s weather, July 1: South-west monsoon is advancing rapidly in the country. With this, the weather patterns have completely changed in large parts of the country. Releasing the latest update for July 1, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain and strong thunderstorm in more than 25 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
According to the Meteorological Department, on June 30, the monsoon has advanced into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, remaining areas of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar, some parts of Uttar Pradesh, most parts of Uttarakhand and some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Conditions are completely favorable for the arrival of monsoon in remaining parts of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat in the next 2-3 days.
North-West India: Warning of very heavy rain in UP and Uttarakhand
Extensive rain is expected in the states of North-West India from today till the next few days.
Uttar Pradesh: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Western Uttar Pradesh on July 1. There is an alert of heavy rain in Eastern Uttar Pradesh also on July 1. Along with this, there are chances of strong winds at the speed of 40-50 km per hour and lightning in these areas during July 1 to 3.
Uttarakhand: Heavy to very heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Uttarakhand on July 1 and 2. Also, on July 1, strong winds can blow at a speed of 30-40 km per hour.
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir: Heavy rain is expected in Himachal Pradesh on July 1 and gale with speed of 50-60 kmph between July 3 and 5. Widespread rain and gusty winds with lightning are expected over Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh from July 1 to 6.
Delhi, Haryana and Punjab: Heavy rainfall is expected over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab from July 1 to 3 and dust storm or strong winds with speed of 40-50 kmph from July 1 to 6.
Rajasthan: There is a warning of heavy rain and thundersquall over East Rajasthan from July 2 to 6, while dust storm is likely over West Rajasthan from July 2 to 6.
East and Northeast India: Torrential disaster in Bihar
IMD’s forecast for eastern and north-eastern states is as follows:-
Bihar: There is a strong possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Bihar on July 1. Along with this, an alert has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning at the speed of 40-50 km per hour on July 1 and 2.
Odisha and Jharkhand: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Odisha from July 1 to 6. Jharkhand is on alert for heavy rain on July 1 and gale with strong winds (40-50 kmph) from July 1 to 6.
West Bengal and Sikkim: Heavy rainfall very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on July 1 and very heavy rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal on July 5 and 6.
Sikkim on July 1 and very heavy rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal on July 5 and 6.
Northeastern states: Heavy rain is forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on July 1. There has also been a warning of hot and humid weather in states like Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura between July 2 and 4.
Central and Western India: Extremely heavy rain in Konkan and Goa
Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on July 1 while there is an alert of heavy rain over Western Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. Intense lightning activity can also be seen in Madhya Pradesh on July 1.
Konkan, Goa and Maharashtra: There is a red/orange alert for very heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa on July 1 and extremely heavy rainfall at a few places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places between July 2 and 4. Ghat areas of Central Maharashtra may also receive extremely heavy rain on July 2 and 3.
Gujarat: Gujarat region is likely to receive heavy rainfall on July 1 while heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected on July 2 and again on July 5-6.
East and Northeast India: Torrential disaster in Bihar
