IMD issues red-orange warning of heavy rain, weather will worsen in these 22 states today
India Rain Watch 8 July: According to the latest update from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon has advanced into some more parts of the North Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and some more areas of Haryana. Weather scientists predict that within the next 2 to 3 days the monsoon will cover the entire country, covering Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea.

According to the latest update from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has advanced into some more parts of the North Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and some more areas of Haryana. Meteorologists predict that within the next 2 to 3 days the monsoon will cover the entire country, covering Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea.
Due to this active monsoon system, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to extremely heavy rains and thunderstorms in 22 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand today i.e. on July 8. For this, the department has issued red and orange warnings according to the districts and asked people to be cautious.
Red warning in these districts of Gujarat
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in many districts of Gujarat for the next two to three hours. There is a possibility of stormy winds blowing at a speed of 60 km per hour, lightning and torrential rains at a rate of more than 15 mm per hour:-
Affected districts: Amreli, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Botad, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, Dangs, Diu, Gir Somnath, Narmada, Navsari, Surat, Tapi, Vadodara and Valsad.
Orange warning in these states including Maharashtra, UP and Uttarakhand
IMD has issued orange alert in major districts of many states, where thunderstorm with speed of 40 to 60 km per hour, lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall of 5 to 15 mm per hour is expected:-
Maharashtra: Dhule, Jalgaon, Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Nandurbar, Nashik, Palghar, Pune, Raigarh, Ratnagiri and Thane.
Gujarat: Ahmedabad, Anand, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Junagadh, Kheda, Panchmahal, Rajkot and Surendranagar.
Uttar Pradesh: Agra, Etawah and Jalaun.
Madhya Pradesh: Bhind, Gwalior, Morena and Sagar.
Uttarakhand: Champawat, Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi.
Punjab: Faridkot.
Alert of extremely heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim
According to the daily forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in different areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today. A high alert has been issued here for heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall at some places.

Alert issued regarding storm and lightning
Along with rain, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings for different states regarding wind speed and thunder: –
Thunderstorm with speed of 50-60 kmph: There is a possibility of severe thunderstorm with speed of 50 to 60 kmph at isolated places in Gujarat region, entire Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Telangana.
Gale and lightning with speed of 40-50 km/hr: Gustsy winds with speed of 40-50 km per hour and lightning are likely in Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep and Rajasthan.
Winds at speed of 30-40 km/hr: Thunderstorm with strong winds reaching speed of 30-40 km/hr may occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Odisha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Thunderstorm Alert: Thunderstorm with lightning may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Uttarakhand. Apart from this, there is also a warning of strong surface winds in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep and Telangana.
