Weekly Weather Forecast: The Meteorological Department has released its weekly weather forecast. Heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning have been warned in many parts of the country between July 11th and 17th. During this period, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several states of eastern, central, northeastern, and western India.
Weekly Weather Forecast: The monsoon has picked up pace across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a nationwide weekly weather forecast for July 11th to 17th. During this period, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in many states of eastern, central, northeastern, and western India. Warnings have also been issued for strong winds with speeds of 40-60 km/h, thunderstorms, and lightning in many areas. A heatwave alert has also been issued for coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Northeast and Eastern India are bracing for torrential rains, while Central India is under a severe thunderstorm alert. Meanwhile, parts of the South are still experiencing intense heat and heatwaves.

Central India: Heavy rain alert in Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh
According to IMD, rain will continue throughout the week in eastern and western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh:-
East India: Heavy rains in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bengal
Monsoon will remain fully active in eastern India.
Possibility of heavy rain in Bihar during 13th to 15th July.
Very heavy rains may occur in some areas of Bihar on 11th and 12th July.
Heavy rain alert for several days in Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.
Warning of lightning and strong winds at many places.
Northeast India: Meghalaya most at risk
Very heavy rain alert in Assam and Meghalaya on July 12.
Heavy rains are likely to continue in many states throughout the week.
West India: Clouds will rain in Konkan-Goa and Maharashtra
Widespread rain over Konkan and Goa throughout the week.
Continuous light to moderate rain will also occur in Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada.
South India: Rain and heatwave
Chances of rain in Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Important advice for people

‘Extremely heavy’ rain alert issued for these states today, Northeast braced for disaster
Northeast India may experience the most intense monsoon activity. According to the Meteorological Department, extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Meghalaya on July 11th. Also:
Very heavy rainfall is expected in Assam and Meghalaya on July 12. Heavy rain will continue between July 13 and 17.
Widespread heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 11 to 17. Thunderstorm and lightning alerts have also been issued for all these states until July 15.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning in Bihar and West Bengal
The Meteorological Department has also expressed concern for the states of Eastern India:-
Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are expected to experience very heavy rainfall on July 11 and 12. Heavy rain will continue in Bihar between July 13 and 15.
Heavy rains are likely in Jharkhand from July 12 to 14, in Gangetic West Bengal from July 11-13 and 16-17 and in Odisha from July 11 to 15.
Central and Western India: Thunderstorms accompanied by winds of up to 60 km/h are likely to occur. Central India may witness heavy rains and strong winds.
Strong winds with speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph along with thunderstorms are likely over East Madhya Pradesh (July 11-14) and Vidarbha (July 13-15).
West Madhya Pradesh will experience winds at a speed of 30-40 km/h (gusting to 50 km/h) from July 11 to 14.
Chhattisgarh is expected to receive widespread heavy rainfall between July 14 and 17. Rainfall will also continue in Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat regions until July 17.
Heat Wave Warning
While rain is lashing many parts of the country, a severe heat wave warning has been issued for various areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on July 11 and 12.
