IMD Rain Alert: Heavy rain and tornado alert in these 23+ states, know the weather conditions

According to the latest update of IMD, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is currently passing through Barmer, Jodhpur and Bathinda.

According to the latest update of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is currently passing through Barmer, Jodhpur, Rajgarh (Churu district) and Bathinda. Meteorologists say that within the next 2 to 3 days, the monsoon will become fully active over the entire country, covering Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea.

Talking about weather systems, a well-marked low pressure area is formed over north-west Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south-west Uttar Pradesh. It is likely to move north-northwest and then turn north-east. Along with this, due to the activation of seasonal trough, off-shore trough and western disturbance, today (July 9) a high alert has been issued for heavy rains and strong storm in more than 23 states of the country including Delhi-NCR, UP, Bihar, MP and Rajasthan.

According to IMD, the main rain areas today will include Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. At the same time, Orange Alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu in South India.

Alert of very heavy rain in these 8 states

According to the bulletin of the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of very heavy rains due to torrential rains at different places in 8 states of the country today:

Uttar Pradesh (western part)
Bihar
Madhya Pradesh
Eastern Rajasthan
central maharashtra
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim
Arunachal Pradesh
Assam and Meghalaya

Heavy rain alert in these 15 states including Delhi-NCR and Gujarat

On July 9, heavy rain is expected in many other parts and states of the country, where an alert of heavy rain has been issued.

Tornado, lightning and strong winds in 23+ states

Along with rain, the Meteorological Department has also issued an alert regarding wind speed and thunder in different parts of the country. This will affect more than 23 states and territories:

Thunderstorm with speed of 50 to 60 km/hr: Thunderstorm with wind speed of 50 to 60 km per hour (gusts up to 70 km per hour) is likely at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Telangana.

Gale and lightning at speed of 40 to 50 km/hr: There is an alert of gusty winds with speed of 40-50 km per hour and lightning at isolated places in Rajasthan, Gujarat state, entire Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh.

Winds with speed reaching 30 to 40 km/hr: Thunderstorm conditions with gusty winds reaching 30-40 km/hr at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Odisha.

Thunderstorm and lightning alert

There has been a warning of thunder and lightning at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Apart from this, very strong surface winds are also expected in Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
