IMD Heavy Rain Alert: Monsoon system has once again become very active in many parts of the country. Due to the impact of the low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and North Odisha, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of torrential rains in different states of the country during the next three to four days. According to IMD, due to the movement of this new weather system in the north-west direction, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand. On the contrary, rainfall activities in South Peninsular India may remain quite sluggish during the next one week.
Weather patterns changed in the last 24 hours
Let us tell you that during the last 24 hours, heavy rains have been recorded in many states of the country. Very heavy rainfall ranging from 12 to 20 cm was recorded in isolated areas of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Western Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm has been recorded in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, East Rajasthan, Kerala, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

The monsoon trough in North India is moving north from its normal location. Due to its effect, there will be widespread rain in Uttarakhand during 24th to 30th August, while there is a possibility of heavy rain during 24th August and 29th to 30th August.
Talking about Uttar Pradesh, widespread rain and heavy showers are expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh during August 24 to 26. There may be heavy rain in western Uttar Pradesh on August 25. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rain at different places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on August 24. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers will continue in areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh till August 30.
Condition of Central India: Alert of torrential rain in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh
The low pressure area in Central India is having a direct impact. There has been a warning of widespread rainfall as well as extremely heavy rainfall in Western Madhya Pradesh from 24 to 26 August. After this, there is a possibility of heavy rain on August 27 also. East Madhya Pradesh will receive heavy to very heavy rain from August 24 to 26 and this trend will continue from August 29 to 30. Very heavy rains are expected in Chhattisgarh on August 24 and 25, while heavy rain and lightning are expected in Vidarbha region between August 24 and 26.

East and Northeast India: Rain with thunderstorm in Odisha and Bihar
Due to this system formed in Eastern India, an alert of very heavy rain has been issued in different parts of Odisha and Jharkhand on August 24. Heavy rain is expected in Bihar for the next 3 to 4 days i.e. from 24 to 27 August. Along with this, rains with strong winds will continue in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till August 30.
Gusty winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in Andaman. States in Northeast India such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura have been warned of heavy rain and lightning during August 24 to 30.
Forecast for Western and South India
Widespread rainfall will continue over Konkan and Goa in West India till August 30 while heavy rainfall is expected over Central Maharashtra between August 24 and 26. If we look at the situation in South India, heavy rains may be recorded in Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana on 24 and 25 August. There is a possibility of very heavy rain in Kerala and Mahe on 24 August and heavy rain on 25 and 26 August. Along with this, there has been a warning of strong surface winds in the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala during 24 to 28 August.
