IMD Weather Update: Alert of heavy rain from Delhi to Himachal, danger of lightning in these states including UP-Uttarakhand
IMD Weather Update: Monsoon remains active in many parts of the country. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD), today i.e. on August 17, heavy rains may be seen in many states of Eastern, Central and North India. A warning of very heavy to extremely heavy rain has also been issued in some areas. Along with this, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds can also be seen in many states.
Danger of extremely heavy rain in Bengal and Odisha
According to IMD, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at some places over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on August 17. Administration and people need to take special precautions in these areas. Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rain may occur at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Gangetic West Bengal.
Alert of heavy rain in these states also
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain at some places in Assam and Meghalaya, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Punjab and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Heavy rains may result in waterlogging in low-lying areas and local traffic disruption.
Warning of storm and lightning
Along with rain, the effects of thunderstorms and strong winds will also be seen in many states. Strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 km per hour may occur with lightning at some places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and Karaikal.
At the same time, there may be thunderstorms with strong winds at the speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour at some places in Bihar, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Telangana.
Danger of lightning in these states including UP, Uttarakhand
There is a possibility of lightning at some places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram-Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha. In such weather, it is advised to avoid standing in open fields, fields and under trees.
Chances of rain in Delhi also
The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Monday was 27.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.3 degrees more than the normal temperature of this season. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the minimum temperature in Palam was recorded at 25.5 degrees Celsius. Whereas the minimum temperature in the ridge center was 24.1 degrees Celsius.
Apart from this, minimum temperatures of 27.6 and 27.5 degrees Celsius were recorded in Lodhi Road and Ayanagar respectively. The Meteorological Department has predicted generally cloudy sky and light rain in the city throughout the day. The maximum temperature is likely to reach 34 degrees Celsius.
Strong surface winds in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of strong surface winds at some places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This may affect weak trees, power poles and temporary structures.
Impact of bad weather in Arabian Sea also
There is a possibility of bad weather in the Arabian Sea also. According to IMD, strong winds with a speed of 45 to 55 kilometers per hour can occur near the coasts of Gujarat, Somalia and Oman. The speed of their gusts can reach up to 65 kilometers per hour. Apart from this, there is a possibility of strong winds in some south-western, northern and eastern central parts associated with the west-central part of the Arabian Sea.
People advised to be cautious
Considering the forecast of the Meteorological Department, people need to be cautious in areas with heavy rains. Especially in areas with extremely heavy rainfall, it is important to maintain distance from low-lying areas, rivers and waterlogged places. Avoid going to open places during thunderstorms and follow the warnings of the local administration.
