Heatwave Alert: Temperatures to Rise in These States, Including UP and Bihar; Heatwave Alert Issued
The Meteorological Department has stated that temperatures in North India will rise rapidly soon due to intense sunshine and hot winds, and the impact of a heatwave may become apparent after April 15. Currently, no rainfall is forecast for North India.
The kind of weather currently prevailing in North India during the month of April is something few would have anticipated. The sensation of heat experienced at the beginning of March has not been felt on a single day in April. Due to Western Disturbances, a spell of strong winds and rainfall continues. Consequently, temperatures remain approximately 4 to 5 degrees lower than normal. The Meteorological Department states that the intensity of the heat will gradually increase across North and West India. However, on April 11, winds are expected to blow across North India at speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. As a result, no significant rise in temperature is likely to be recorded.
Delhi’s Weather
The weather in the capital, Delhi, and its surrounding areas will remain completely clear on April 11. Starting Sunday, a rise in temperature will be observed in this region. The daytime temperature is expected to reach a maximum of 36 degrees. Cool breezes will continue to prevail during the morning and evening hours. Therefore, Delhi residents need not worry about the heat for the time being.
Sunny Weather to Prevail in UP
The Meteorological Department states that no rainfall is forecast for Uttar Pradesh. Bright sunshine will prevail across most parts of the state. However, spells of strong winds are expected to continue. Maximum temperatures in the state could rise up to 38 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, heatwave conditions may develop in Uttar Pradesh after April 15. Nevertheless, the cessation of rainfall comes as good news for farmers. Recent rains have had an adverse impact on the farmers’ wheat crops; thus, the return of bright sunshine now could bring them much-needed relief.
Weather in Punjab and Haryana
In Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, sunny conditions will prevail, and there is no expectation of rain. The intensity of the heat is expected to increase gradually. The Meteorological Department states that the effects of a heatwave will begin to be felt in the region starting April 12.
Pleasant Weather in the Hills
In the mountainous regions, intermittent snowfall is still occurring in the higher-altitude areas. In Uttarakhand as well, the weather remains pleasant due to cool winds. The Meteorological Department has not issued a rain alert for the time being; however, it has indicated that light rain and snowfall may occur in the higher reaches. In Himachal Pradesh, winds are also forecast to blow at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
