There is a possibility of hailstorms and lightning strikes in several locations. During this period, winds are expected to blow at speeds ranging from 60 to 70 kilometers per hour in many areas. Meanwhile, the weather is expected to remain clear on April 15 in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and the Delhi-NCR region. Temperatures in these areas are likely to rise. In Eastern India, a change in weather conditions is anticipated after April 20, 2026. In Southern India, a cyclonic circulation system remains active; consequently, coastal states may experience rainfall. However, maximum temperatures are expected to rise in most states. A heatwave alert has been issued for Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
States Likely to Experience Rainfall
The states where the Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall between April 15 and April 17 include West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. Heavy rainfall is likely in Punjab and Haryana on April 17.
Weather Forecast for Delhi-NCR Today
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the Delhi-NCR region will remain clear on Wednesday. There is no likelihood of rainfall anywhere in the region. On April 15, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be 24 degrees Celsius.
Heatwave to Cause Distress in UP and Bihar

Heatwaves are expected to prevail across most districts of both states on Wednesday afternoon, causing significant discomfort to the public. Temperatures are set to rise in several districts. The districts in UP where the heat is expected to intensify include Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Hapur, Hathras, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Deoria, and Jhansi. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is projected to be 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius. The districts in Bihar where temperatures are expected to rise include Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Buxar, East Champaran, West Champaran, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Katihar, Khagaria, Madhubani, Saharsa, Purnia, and Bhagalpur.
Rain Alert for Haryana and Punjab on April 17
According to the Meteorological Department, there is no likelihood of rain in Punjab and Haryana on April 15. Residents in these states are expected to face discomfort due to the heat on Wednesday. The districts in Haryana where hot weather is anticipated include Gurugram, Sonipat, Hisar, Panchkula, Bhiwani, Kaithal, Karnal, and Rohtak. In Chandigarh, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 21 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain in Haryana and Punjab on April 17. The districts in Punjab expected to receive rain include Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Tarn Taran, Abohar, Bathinda, and Fazilka. Strong winds are also expected to blow across these districts. Furthermore, there is a possibility of hailstorms and lightning strikes in several locations.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir on April 15. According to the Meteorological Department, a spell of rain and thunderstorms is set to resume in Uttarakhand starting April 17. The districts in Uttarakhand likely to experience rainfall include Dehradun, Nainital, Roorkee, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, and Almora. In Dehradun, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be 29 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 16 degrees Celsius. There is also a possibility of rain in Himachal Pradesh on April 17. The districts in the state where rainfall is anticipated include Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Kangra, Hamirpur, and Lahaul & Spiti. In Manali, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to hover around 6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to drop to minus 4 degrees Celsius.
