Alert for heavy rain and hailstorms in 10 states, including Delhi and UP; Know what the weather will be like today
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Central India over the next five days. Hailstorms may occur in some areas of Madhya Pradesh on April 3 and 4. There is a possibility of hailstorms in Chhattisgarh on April 4.
IMD Alert: Amidst the onset of summer, several states across India are experiencing rainfall. Currently, this weather pattern is expected to persist in several states, including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The IMD—the India Meteorological Department—issued a forecast on Friday stating that several states in Northwest India may witness heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hailstorms. There is also a likelihood of rain in various states across Eastern, Central, and Western India.
Weather Outlook for the Northwest
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience rainfall from April 3 to April 8, during which winds may blow at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km per hour. Meanwhile, Western Rajasthan may receive rain on April 3, 4, and 6. Similar weather conditions are expected in Western Uttar Pradesh on April 3. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan could witness scattered to moderate rainfall on April 7 and 8.
Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad are likely to experience rain or snowfall on April 7 and 8. Hailstorms may occur in Jammu and Kashmir on April 3, 4, and 7. Additionally, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi face a likelihood of hailstorms on April 3 and 4. Hailstorms are also possible in Uttarakhand on April 4; in Western Uttar Pradesh on April 4 and 5; in Rajasthan on April 3 and 4; and in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on April 5.
Weather Update for Eastern and Central India
The Meteorological Department has reported that West Bengal and Sikkim may experience light to moderate rainfall between April 5 and April 7. There is a likelihood of rain in Jharkhand on April 4, and in Odisha over the next five days.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Central India over the coming five days. Some areas of Madhya Pradesh may witness hailstorms on April 3 and 4. There is also a possibility of hailstorms in Chhattisgarh on April 4.
Rain Expected in Western Indian States as Well
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of rain in Central Maharashtra on April 4, in Marathwada on April 4 and 5, and in Gujarat on April 3.
In the northeastern states, rain is likely in Assam and Meghalaya from April 3 to 6; in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on April 3 and 4; and in Arunachal Pradesh on April 4 and 5. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh from April 6 to 8, and in Assam and Meghalaya from April 5 to 6.
