IMD Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy rain alert in these 11 states, thunderstorms in 20+ states from UP to Bihar

 

IMD Heavy Rain Alert: The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in 11 states over the next few days. Thunderstorm alerts, lightning, and strong winds have been issued in more than 20 states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. According to the IMD, weather conditions across the country will remain similar until June 20.

IMD Heavy Rain Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a big and detailed bulletin regarding the weather of the country. The South-West monsoon is progressing rapidly, due to which the weather pattern is going to change completely in many parts of the country. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain in 11 states of the country during the next few days. An alert of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds has been issued in more than 20 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather conditions across the country are going to remain the same till June 20.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) is currently passing through Harnai, Solapur, Hyderabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kalingapatnam, Paradip, Baripada, Purulia, Dhanbad, and Muzaffarpur. Conditions are favorable for its further advance into some more parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and South Chhattisgarh during the next 4 to 5 days.

Heavy to very heavy rain in these 11 states

The Meteorological Department has clarified in its report that heavy rainfall is expected in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and some states in southern peninsular India. The 11 main states likely to be affected are as follows:

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim: Heavy rain is expected here on June 14-15 and June 20. An alert for extremely heavy rainfall is in effect from June 16 to 19. Heavy rain is also expected in Gangetic West Bengal on June 14.

Assam and Meghalaya: These states are likely to receive heavy rainfall from June 14 to 16 and again on June 20. Further heavy rainfall is also expected from June 17 to 19.

Arunachal Pradesh: Heavy rainfall is likely on June 15-16 and June 19-20, while a warning for very heavy rainfall has been issued for June 17 and 18.Kerala and Mahe: Heavy rain is expected in this region of South India on June 14.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal: Heavy rains are expected in these areas on June 16 and 17.

Karnataka: Heavy rain alert is issued for coastal and north interior Karnataka on June 17-18, while for south interior Karnataka between June 16 and 18.

Telangana: Heavy rains are likely over Telangana from June 18 to 20.

Andhra Pradesh (Coastal Area): Due to active monsoon, rainfall activities will also increase in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The Meteorological Department has issued a detailed warning regarding high winds and thunderstorms in various parts of the country. More than 20 states will be affected by this:

Uttar Pradesh: Strong winds with winds of 50-60 kmph (gusting up to 70 kmph) and lightning are forecast for eastern Uttar Pradesh on June 14 and 15. Rain is expected between June 18 and 20. Strong winds of 40-50 kmph are expected in western Uttar Pradesh on June 14 and 15.

Bihar and Jharkhand: Strong winds will blow in Bihar on June 14-15 and June 17-18. Additionally, there is a warning for thunderstorms (with winds of up to 50-60 km per hour) on June 16, June 19, and June 20. In Jharkhand, there will be a possibility of frequent thunderstorms and lightning from June 14 to 20.

Rajasthan: The weather in Rajasthan will be quite aggressive. Thunderstorms with winds of 50-60 kmph are expected across the state on June 14th, while winds of 60-70 kmph (gusts up to 80 kmph) are expected on June 15th. Dust storms are also expected in western Rajasthan on June 14th and 15th. Thunderstorms will continue in both parts of the state from June 16th to 20th.

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: A severe dust storm is expected in Madhya Pradesh on June 14. Winds with winds of 50-60 km per hour are expected in western Madhya Pradesh on June 14-15 and in eastern Madhya Pradesh on June 14. Subsequently, winds of 40-50 km per hour will occur in both divisions and Chhattisgarh from June 15 to 19.

Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab: Strong winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph and thunderstorms are likely in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Haryana on June 14 and 15. Similar weather conditions will occur in Punjab on June 15 and again on June 19-20.

Hill States (Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir): Thunderstorm alert with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph has been issued for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during June 14-15 and June 18-20.

Apart from this, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Maharashtra (Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada), Vidarbha, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Andhra Pradesh (Coastal and Rayalaseema), Tamil Nadu and Telangana will also witness the effect of thunderstorm with strong winds of 30 to 50 kmph on different days between June 14 and 20.

Temperature condition: heat will increase at some places, relief will be available at others

According to the Meteorological Department, some parts of the country will see an increase in temperature while some parts are expected to get relief:-

Northwest India: Maximum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next few days (till June 18), after which temperatures will remain stable.

Central India: Gradual increase in maximum temperatures will be seen till June 16.

Maharashtra and Vidarbha: Heat wave conditions will persist in Marathwada from June 14 to 17 and in Vidarbha from June 14 to 16. Temperatures in Maharashtra will remain unchanged until June 18, but will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius on June 19 and 20.

Konkan and Goa: The weather here will be very hot and humid from June 14 to 17. Nights will also be very warm from June 14 to 16.
