LPG Rules: Services are being discontinued for these cylinder consumers; these steps are necessary for cylinders.

More than 50 thousand such consumers are being identified in the district, who are using both PNG and LPG connections. After matching the data with Aadhaar, their LPG connections will be suspended, however, they can be reinstated if needed.

LPG Rules: Where piped natural gas (PNG) supply is already available in your home, the LPG connection will be suspended. Following strict instructions from the Petroleum Ministry, the Supply Department has made preparations to close the LPG connections of more than 50 thousand consumers who have dual connections. To take this important step, the databases of both PNG and LPG are being matched with Aadhaar cards, so that any irregularities can be prevented and the benefits of government schemes reach the right beneficiaries.

Along with this, the work of providing new PNG connections in the district has also been expedited. District Supply Officer (DSO) Anand Kumar said that there are a total of 87 gas distributors in the district and about 13.57 lakh LPG consumers. Of these, 3.40 lakh beneficiaries are of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. At the same time, there are more than 75 thousand PNG consumers in the city. Investigation has revealed that out of these, more than 50 thousand people have kept LPG connections open along with PNG and they are also taking cylinders.

Earlier, the Ministry had appealed to such consumers to surrender their LPG connections, those who have not done so, now their LPG connections will be directly suspended. According to the supply department, LPG connections are being suspended instead of being canceled completely. If in future the consumer needs an LPG cylinder for any reason, he will be able to get his suspended connection reinstated either temporarily or permanently.

How is the matching going on?

In this process being done by the fulfillment department, the data of consumers connected to PNG connections is being matched with the database of LPG connections. Aadhaar card is being used as an important link for this matching. Based on the unique identification number of Aadhaar card, it will be ensured that no person has both PNG and LPG connection at the same address. After completion of this process, consumers having dual connections will be identified.

PNG connection is getting priority

On one hand, dual connections are being removed, while on the other hand, Green Gas Limited (GAIL) is insisting on giving new PNG connections. GAIL has got the target of providing five thousand new PNG connections by June 30. According to DSO, till June 5, about three thousand new connections have been given.

Apply immediately

The department has appealed that consumers who want to get safe and affordable PNG should apply immediately.
